Contests : Wergle Flomp Free Poetry Contest : Past Winners : 2002 : Lance Muscutt
LOOK AT THE FIRST LETTER OF EVERY VERSE, TOP TO BOTTOM
Please, oh winter day
Once again, I beg you to go away
Every day you hound me
Today, please be good to me
Raspy voices frighten you away
Yes...I am getting warm now
Do you not understand my feelings?
Only time can tell
Today time stands still
Can you understand now?
Oh, winter day
My heart is stone and still it cannot sway
If you could only understand...
Sad, sad, winter day
Are you still there?
Sometimes, when I am cold
Cold like a December Sunday morning
Away from my nice, warm blankets
Mostly on these days, I shiver.
Sent as a joke to poetry.com,
this poem received an honorable mention in the 2002 Wergle Flomp parody poetry contest sponsored by Winning Writers.
