Contests : Wergle Flomp Free Poetry Contest : Past Winners : 2006 : Benjamin Taylor Lally
UNTITLED ("When the time comes...")
When the time comes along to count up the greats,
Let's not forget Bush, President of the United States.
Many years ago, he was born in Connecticut
His skin is as smooth as this loaf of bread I cut.
He moved down to Texas and they made him the mayor
He owned an oil company so he's a bigtime player.
He really loves America, and he's always grinning
Because of the War on Terror that we're winning.
I hope that we don't lose to the terrorists
Because I would hate being ruled by terrorists.
He has a nice dog, some kids and a wife,
and overall he has a pretty nice life.
He goes on vacation way on down to his ranch
where he digs holes, plays golf and sometimes eats spinich.
Sometimes I hear people call him a neo-con
and that makes me sad like a frowny emoticon
:(
The next guy who asks about Weapons of Mass Desctruction
I will step on his ass and disrupt him
Sent as a joke to Poetry.com under the nom de plume "Nata Pote," this poem was a finalist in the 2006 Wergle Flomp humor poetry contest sponsored by Winning Writers.
