Contests : Wergle Flomp Free Poetry Contest : Past Winners : 2008 : Raul Gallardo
A BATTLE BETWEEN HANDS
The white page is getting drunk
from inhaling my breath
The pen has already like a rock
In my tickling hands
Can't remember if I had more
Beers than tequila
My puke looks chunky like
A Pollock painting
Where did my stomach
Hided all that food?
I don't know
After three barks I believed
There was nothing left to come
It's hot, the clothes are all gone
The little guy wants some action
I can't remember where I left
The magazines
He must be dizzy because
he can't get up
Remember the pictures you liked
All those lonely women posting
Their amateur pictures online
You want me to help you with lotion
But you are on your own
Always distracting me for your
Self pleasure
Always so little time for myself
All I wanted was to write but
I guess the shower and the toilet
Is not enough for you
The little guy has beaten the pen
By using more ink
His voice always stronger sharing
The same hand as the pen
He has won all the battles
Sent as a joke to Poetry.com, this poem was a finalist in the 2008 Wergle Flomp humor poetry contest sponsored by Winning Writers.
About Raul Gallardo
Raul did not study at a prestigious College. He's not the protégé of some famous writer or filmmaker. He did not graduate top of his class nor was he the local hero at the championship of the soccer, baseball tournament, or any other sport. He's not involved in any altruist organizations or any political party. Speaks in Spanish, thinks in English and writes in a combination of both. A reason he attributes to strangers lurking into his world.
Plans to write a poem for next year about his experience of being stalked by the joke contest "Poetry.com". He used to have the privilege of never having won any award or contest but he has broken the tradition by being a finalist in the Wergle Flomp Contest. He has won an award for the best short script for Fantasy and Science Fiction at the Action on Film International Festival in Pasadena, California. Lives in León, México where he works at a shoe factory.
