How to Write a Poem for a Journal


This poem was a finalist in the 2011 Wergle Flomp humor poetry contest sponsored by Winning Writers.


About Dale Dewoody
Dale Dewoody is finishing his dissertation in Creative Writing at the University of North Texas where he studied and worked as a Teaching Fellow while finishing the final draft of his first book. He recently accepted an adjunct instructor position at John Brown University in Siloam Springs. He hopes to graduate in December. He has worked as a football coach, newspaper reporter, and teacher at a Juvenile Drug Facility, and has been employed by the census bureau in 2000 and 2010 and is looking forward to doing it again in 2020. Three of his poems will appear in the 2011 edition of Reunion: The Dallas Review and another poem will be published in the next issue of Southwest American Literature.
