GIBBERISH FROM THE TENTH DIMENSION
Rabbit guts will bring the flies
I saw his back shiver like a cat with ringworm
He was deaf as a dog in the middle of a war
How glorious life is
I tipped him over like a sleeping cow
His eyes were hard and black like buttons
Angry bunions and swollen veins
Oh how the girls loved him
Her mouth glistened with breakfast juices
Her fat salt tears filled the room
Her words glowed like the inside of a baker's furnace
How I wish I were not deaf and blind
Ah! Cunning as an outhouse rat was he
I saw him stand tall like a tapeworm uncoiling
Pointed teeth crooked and stained like piano keys
Last month's finalist cover boy for Farmer's Weekly
He had the fury of weak men
And basked proudly in greasy lethargy
His squirting ego spattered in his cell
How he loved his Cuban boot heels
This poem was a finalist in the 2011 Wergle Flomp humor poetry contest sponsored by Winning Writers.
About Dennis McLelland
The Old West has gripped my attention for years, especially intriguing characters such as "Liver Eating" Johnston (who purportedly ate the raw livers of his Native American enemies), Wild Bill Hickok, Doc Holiday, et al. I have completed a biography about Johnston entitled The Avenging Fury of the Plains. I have now shifted to writing Christian books, the latest being The Rapture According to the Apostle Paul. I have authored a multitude of education-related articles in national magazines, local newspapers, trade journals, etc. My interest in the early West has created several articles related to Tombstone, Arizona, as well as the famous shoot-out at the OK Corral.
